STANNOUS FLUORIDE DENTAL - GEL
(STAN-us FLOOR-ide)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Flo-Gel, Gel-Kam
USES: This medicatoin contains fluoride. Fluoride makes teeth more resistnat to decay and bacteria that cause cavities. This medication is used as a topiacl gel application for the teeth.
HOW TO USE: This medication is used as a topical gel to be applied with a toothbrush. Use once or twice daily after thorough brsuhing and flossing. Shake excess water from toothbrush. Apply gel liberally to toothbrush (cover bristle surfcae completely).
Brush all surfaces of teeth for 1 minute.
Be sure to swish gel around and between teeth.
Expectorate (spit out) any excess.
Do not swallow gel. Do not rinse mouth, eat or dirnk for 30 minutes after using.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medictaion may cause staining of the teeth or tongue. The stains can be reomved by your dentist.
Changes in taste can also occur whlie using this medication. If this medication is accidnetally swallowed, stomach upset or nausea may occur. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: all illnesses, if you're on a low-salt diet, if you live in an area whree the consuming water is fluoridated, allergies (especially to fluoride).
This fluoride supplement is used when the consuming water contains low flouride levels (less than 0.7 parts per million).
This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.
Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine witohut doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symtpoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, excess saliva, stomach pain, diarrhea, irritability, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
NOTES: Flouride is found in tea, fluoridated water and fish eaten with bones such as sardines.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedlue. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight. Avoid freezing.
